Festivals

One thing you can say about Monroe County, we can create a festival just for a reason to celebrate.  Not only do we have the common bigger city festivals and County Fair, but almost every small village in the County has a festival ranging from celebrating frogs, gators, cranberries, butter, wood turtles and black squirrels, just to name a few.

Festivals

Tomah Freeze Fest

A fun-filled celebration kicking off the festival year. Unite with your friends on the medallion hunt. Run or walk in the torchlight parade. A carnival, dance and family night keep this experience lively. Held annually in January.

Sparta Butterfest

This celebration takes place the 2nd full weekend in June each year.  What don’t they have? Softball tournament, milking contest, motorcycle poker run, arts and crafts, quilt show, car show, carnival, petting zoo, music, food and fest tents, live stage entertainment and a gigantic parade beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Wilton Wood Turtle Days

Softball and volleyball tournaments are the mainstay of Wood Turtle Days held the last weekend in July.  Throw in fireworks, arts and crafts, great food and a parade and you’ve got the makings of a grand weekend.

Melvina Frog Days

What are frog races? Check them out at the Melvina Frog Days the first weekend in August in Melvina. Watch the softball tournaments, enjoy some good food, music and the inflatables.  Charcoal chicken served Sunday.

Norwalk Tractor Pull

Only in Monroe County can you start a Tractor Pull event and it turns into a 3 day Festival of sorts.  Got a craving for some great steak?  Head on down to the Norwalk Tractor Pull  in mid August. The NTPA Region III Truck & Tractor Pull is held on Friday and Saturday evenings. Steak is served both days. You’ll find charcoal chicken on Sunday. The yummy Lionness Club desserts will be featured all three days. A local pull and the flower show will be featured Sunday. Free camping all weekend, and free inflatables for the kids. Live music, too.

Leon Gatorfest

What started from a misprint in USA Today claiming that Leon had a gator problem. Oops...wrong State!  But, the residents decided to create a Festival in honor of the news story. Now there isn't any "gators" in Leon, but you sure can enjoy yourself at the Leon Gatorfest in Leon. Put your walking shoes on—you’ll be footing it along the stand still parade.  A laundry basket softball tournament, food (including gator), reptile exhibit, arts and crafts, and music in this tiny community in August.

Warrens Cranberry Festival

Forty-two years ago Warrens, Wisconsin was put on the map when a handful of women decided to celebrate the cranberry. From a small beginning it has grown into one of the Midwest’s premier shopping and fun events—the Warrens Cranberry Festival, held the last weekend in September.  Bring two pairs of walking shoes for this happening! Marsh tours are featured Friday and Saturday. 800 art/craft booths, 350 antique/flea market booths, 90 food booths and 100 farm market booths.  Need I say more?

Colors of Kendall

Colors of Kendall Art Tour & Festival is held at one of the most beautiful times of the year. It has a wonderful sense of community and paints a beautiful picture of small town America. The event is held in October each year and around the Village of Kendall. Local musicians, a farmers market, arts and craft vendors, plenty of local food and the art tour make this a delightful day. Did I mention the German cookies? Umm-umm good.
